Safe back home

The Öresundsbro, on my way back home to sweet sweden

Haven't posted in a while, and that's because since the end of the semester I've been travelling a lot, and then I went back to Sweden. Will probably try to do a travel-sum-up kind of thing when I can find a "lucka" in my busy schedule. Turns out being unemployed is a full time job! Who knew?!

There's pics in my pixbox from my last months, so if you can't wait for me to blog about it go ahead and have a look.

Hejdå så länge då!

Leaving Leute

The semester is at its end, and people around me are already leaving. It's really sad, and I will miss you all soooooooooo much. Daniel left this morning, and he has been here both semesters with me and been one of my best friends. Me and some other people helped him with all his stuff to the train. Not sure how he will make it all the way home with that big bike box! Good thing he has Molly and Hector to help him to the airport in Frankfurt.

Daniel, I will miss you lots and lots (du fehlst mir schon!!). I've learned so much about bikes and cameras from you, things I never thought I'd know! Keep riding that Atlantis (I want to see it in Sweden soon)!

Going to Rome

Me and Machiotto by the Fontana di Trevi
Yeah, I went to Rome. Met up with ol' friend Otto aus Suomi in a crazy hot Italy. Wednesday to Sunday last week.

I flew in Wednesday evening, and that night was all about getting to the hostel and then to find some food. The hostel was just next to the Vatican, and we could almost wave to pope Ben from our window (if it had been on the other side of the house). Tiny, tiny, really hard beds, but when you've been travelling all day, it was heaven.

Thursday we went down town to do some sightseeing. We just walked around for a bit (the finnish army doesn't really believe in maps...) and we managed to kinda come across almost everything we wanted to see. Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi, the spanish steps, the Colosseum (hur stavas det egentligen på engelska?!) and all that stuff. This city is really beautiful (and old!!). We tried multiple times to get into the Vatican, but the line to the museum was always waaaaaaaaaaaay to long to even concider getting in in thease temperatures. Maybe if it was a bit cooler, but we decided that it was enough to see the walls from the outside.

Friday we discovered was some kind of religious holiday in Italy, so everything was closed. We had planned a day at the beach, and this was the perfect opportunity. So we took the S-bahn there, and enjoyed a whole day of sun and sea. Wonderful. The tan/burn I got was not as wonderful. Now it is, but I needed quite a lot of after sun lotion. All over me. Even our dinner waiter that night told me "you are very very tanned". And then he called me "tanned lady" to the couple at the next table (he should see me now!!).

We shopped for nine hours saturday. At noon it was 35 degrees, and in the afternoon 42. Quite hot. When you stayed in the shade it wasn't really a problem, but the sun was terrible!! We just spent as much time as possible in the air conditioned stores. I got a pair of shoes, some make-up (yes they have Sephora in Rome!!) and some other small things. None of the things that I was really looking for.

I had to leave sunday, but Schmotto stayed on his own until monday (hope you got home allright!). The flight was no problem, but the trainride back to Reutlingen from the Baden-baden airport was awful. I landed at 16.55 and didn't reach Pestalozzistrasse until after 23 at night! Lots of waiting and slow trains. Blä!

June, month of swedish parties

Since June has both our swedish national holiday (6th) and Midsummers eve (22nd) there's been some swedish parties the last couple of weeks. I enjoy hanging out with my swedish friends here, and the rest of Reutlingen probably think we're totally crazy by now. Here's the month in pictures (månaden i bilder :))
Bea, Anna-Karin & Andrea with swedish Jordgubbstårta on Nationaldagen

Stefan (2. Stock and IKEA hero) playing beach volley ball on the 7th

Roger came to visit on the 11th (that turkisk peppar made some really great shots on midsummers!! thnx!)

Real midsummers dinner; with sill, nubbe och allt!!

Two Bodils at the same party, that can only happen in Germany!!

The swedes have (as usual) the best ölsinne of all!!

the 180's and the München

After a whole weekend (and then some) in München, I'm a real city girl. I can ride the U-bahn and S-bahn all by my self, and also walk all the way from Münchener Freiheit to Marienplatz (like we did on Monday).

I started the weekend together with Daniel, sharing a Baden-Württemberg ticket and a Bayern ticket. He was going to Augsburg, to ride his bike from there to Italy (hope he's still alive!!) Saturday was really baking hot, and me and Candyse tried to stay in the shade as much as possible, drinking iced coffee from Starbucks all day long. The day was all about shopping. First all day in Marienplatz (1 hour in H&M...) and when we were tired enough we went home to clean up and then back into town to have dinner. We went to a burger place that was supposed to be really amazing, but since we weren't on the list, we had to get our dinner some place else. We ended up in an irish/australian bar, and got our amazing burgers there instead.

Sunday we went to Münchener Freiheit, which is a really nice and fancy part of München. Lots of small cute shops and cafés everywhere. We walked a lot, and when we finally reached city we met up with Sam and Adolfo and some friends of theirs (three very nice american young gentlemen they'd met at their hostel) at the Hofbräuhaus. A classic when you are in München. It was like Frühlingsfest all over again (pretty scary, thinking of all the drama we've gone through thanks to that night...), but we gave up pretty early and went home to go to sleep.

Monday was museumday (neue Pinakotheke) & some sightseeing. Again lots of walking, but the museum was really nice. And really big, didn't think we'd ever make it out of there. But we did. We went back to Münchener Freiheit to have some coffee and then we went to the movies. A really funny german movie (Shoppen) about dating in München.

Yesterday everything was back to normal (d.h. not Feiertag anymore) so Candyse had to work. I had to spend the day alone, problem was it was pouring down all day. First thing I did was running to the closest shop to buy an umbrella. Then I went to Lenbachhaus, which is a really nice art museum. Spent over two hours there, and then strolled around town. Due to the rain this was not as nice as it could be, but it was ok. At night I went to Candyses work and they had movie night there. We watched the two first Pirates of the Caribbean-movies. Just a bit more pirates and ships than a girl can take in one evening, but finally the movies were over and we got to go home.

This morning I got a Mitfahrgelegenheit to go back to Reutlingen. This was my first mitfahr, but all went well, and it turned out to be a girl and a guy who study at the FH, and two girls who study in Tübingen. I fell asleep before we left München, and woke up about 50kms from Reutlingen.

180's reunion!

Have a whole week off from school, so I decided to go to München and visit Candyse. Will stay until tuesday or so. The 180's will be back together, like no summer semester ever happened! Of course we miss Marie, but you can't get everything. I'm planning on seeing her later this summer after leaving this place they call Reutlingen.

Me and Candyse in the good ol' days. Actually in München

2. Stock party and then Bodensee

Last friday we had our Stockwerksparty. We had a 60's 70's theme, and rented the Wurmbar. Lots of people came, and since the theme is pretty open, people looked very... different. We had lots of fun, and also made some money for the Stock.

Me, Nick, Frizie & Myran looking all 60's/70's

The following saturday we went on a adventure trip to Bodensee. We left at 8 o'clock in the morning, and after the big party the night before, we all were pretty tired. First stop were in the Abenteuer Steinbruch. Here we got to ride a zip rope. It's like a linbana, and you ride hanging only from a harnest. I was really afraid before trying it the first time, but it was sooooooo much fun!! Then we got to ride a mechanical bull, wich is also lots of fun to watch, but I was not really that impressed with the ride.

two swedes riding the bus

2. Stock+ wearing harnests

Me on a repbro

Stefan was first out on the zip rope

Back on the bus, and we went to Meersburg. A very pretty little town just by Bodensee. Here we walked through town, and then we had a wine tasting. I didn't know anything about wine before, and this was only local wines, so it was very interesting (and good). We had really good dinner at a nice restaurant, and then we took the boat to Konstanz. Here we met up with Daniel, who spent all weekend to ride his bike around Bodensee (han är gaaalen!). We had time for a quick drink, and then we headed back to Reutlingen.

The day was perfect, and me and Andrea ended up in 4. Stock Litthaus to watch Eurovision Song Contest with the other Swedes. (We all know that fel låt vann!) :D

Weekend with dad and then Valborg...

Last weekend my dad visited. We didn't really do much, but it was mostly about seeing eachother. He arrived in Reutlingen friday night. We checked him into the hotel and then had dinner. Saturday morning we went into Stuttgart to do some shopping (that's where I met my soulmate), we had lunch and then we went to Bad Cannstadt. First we spent 2 good hours in the Mercedes Museum. I've been there before, but for anyone who loves cars you can't visit this place enough! After this we were off to Frühlingsfest.

Frühlingsfest is mostly about drinking lots and lots of beer. It's served in 1l glasses, and you have to drink it fast or it goes flat and warm. So that's what we did. A lot. Ending up with lots of drunk people (of course), a good share of drama and one pair of broken sandals.

Me and my new best friend from Saturn

The whole 2. Stock group + dad at the Mercedes Museum

Lots of beer and Skål! at Frühlingsfest

Nick, me and the sandal from hell (never trust 95ct shoes!)

Monday was last of April, in sweden known as Valborg. A day of lighting fires to scare off evil spirits of winter. And of getting drunk (like all other swedish traditions...) We got all the swedes of Reutlingen together to celebrate. Some other people joined, and I suspect that we might have managed to scare them off instead... We had a barbecue and listened to swedish music all night. This might be the first and only time I've had Björn Rosenström playing on my computer! It was a really good Valborg, and we even cheered for the swedish king who had his birthday.

TAG DES LÄRMS!!!

Yesterday it was Tag des Lärms, day of noice. Mattias the pedagog on my floor explained that you're supposed to be quiet and think of all the noice in our every day life. We quickly changed the concept into "day of being really loud". Or more like: DAY OF BEING REALLY LOUD. "Lärm des Tages" was obviously: YELLING.
I made lasagne for dinner, and then we all went to Ca:re, the Studikneipe under the Mensa. Lots of people, smoke, drunk guys and bad music. The typical german (or any) student party. We danced the night away, and walked home through the warm german summer night/morning.
I think I was supposed to be in class this morning, but I was just too tired. I'm gonna go bake some Brezeln, with the Alumni project I've been working in, this afternoon. Hopefully it'll be fun. Probably. Just need a tiny tiny nap first ;)

Going to Hannover

Yesterday I went on a trip organized by the school, to the Hannover Messe für Industrie. A nice 7 hour bus ride to get there. Since it's so far we had to leave at 4 o'clock in the morning. This means I got up at 3, which is not an optimal time to wake up. Good thing there was time to sleep in the bus.

The Messe was huge, and we didn't have time to se even ½ of it. I hung out with Anrea, Krista and Hasan all day. We got a bit lazy after a while and had some icecream and just hung out for a while. Last thing we saw was the RoboCup. German soccer championships for robots. We should have gotten there earlier, because it was so much fun. We only got to see one game, but it was good.

RoboCup

After the Messe we had 7 more hours in the lovely bus to go. I managed to sleep about 4 of them, and when we finally got home to Wurmhaus, there was a X-dressing party in the Wurmbar. All guys went crazy, dressed in skirts, bikinis and lots of make up. The bar was too smokey, too hot, and too filled with testosterone so I went up to my room pretty early. After all it was a pretty long day.

Easter break!

A whole week off school is almost at its end. Hardly did anything, but time just passed SO fast. Stayed in Reutlingen for the week, and I'm happy I did, 'cause the wheater has been GREAT. Over 20 degrees all week, and I've had lots of time to work on my tan.
Yesterday we went to Europa-park, to celebrate Julias bd. I'm usually too scared to do things like this, but it worked out fine. Went with Julia, Narmada, Gautam and Nick, and they all made me do the scariest ride. After that everything was lätt som en plätt. Even went on the biggest rollercoaster twice!
Now it's time for food. Bis später!! Ade!

Julia, Nick, Narmada & Gautam! Greatest fun park company ever!!

Sommer is here!

Today the sun is shining from a clear blue sky, and it's about 20 degrees. Me and Narmada put our bikinis on and went outside to get a nice tan. First at the lawn outside our house, and then on our balcony. I'm already red from the sun. Hopefully it will turn brown until tomorrow. We're planning on going to Heidelberg for some shopping and hanging out. Since it's easter tomorrow is the only day this weekend that things are actually open. Sunday will probably be spent by Bodensee in Konstanz. Summer is really here!
Adios!
Ps. New pics in my the pixbox from the party this tuesday...

Vamos a la Barca!

Spent the week with Nina and Saba in Barcelona. A wonderful city where EVERYONE should go. I really didn't want to leave, but I had to since I booked the ticket. I arrived tuesday midday, and did some shopping and basic orientation. It is really easy to find your way here. We got around by subway most of the time.

We saw most of the really famous places and sights. The beach, the cathedral Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Diagonal Mar (really good shopping mall, but since the weather was so nice, we didn't want to stay long in there), Placa Catalunya and lots of other stuff. Wednesday night we first had Tapas for dinner, and then we went to a salsa bar. Met some locals there, and danced the night away. At the next table a group of germans were partying, so I got to practice my german too! :)

The weather was great for shopping and sight seeing. Not too warm, something between 10 and 15 degrees most of the time. If it was warmer we would have wanted to hang out at the beach. We went to the beach, but as you can see it was pretty windy there...

We stayed at Sabas place. She's doing an internship at Mango, so she had to work during the days. But she bravely went partying with us pretty late at night. It was really nice to hang out with Nina and Saba again, can't do that too often now that we live in 3 different countries... Hope to see you soon again girls!!
Adios!

Rotis für alle!

A while since I posted, but now I'm back. Nothing has really happened, so I haven't had anything to blog about, and at the same time I haven't had the time to either.
Yesterday I had dinner with Daniel, Ali and Gautam. "We" cooked some indian food. Ali and Gautam did most of the work, and we kind of just observed and learned. Indian food is tricky. I learned how to make that indian bread, Rotis (hope that's the way to spell it), and they turned out pretty good.

Me making rotis.

Gautam baking them.

Today when I woke up it was snowing like crazy, and it actually stayed on the ground and didn't melt right away. Not fun at all! But it all melted and dried up after a while. I went to stadtmitte for a coffe with Daniel and then lunch with Nick.

Almost all the people on my floor are going away for the weekend, so I'm gonna be here all alone. Boring. But I got the new James Bond movie on DVD today. So I have something to do. And I'm gonna be working some too. I'll make time pass. Can be good with some alone time too, after what can only be described as a Hector-Nick-Daniel-OD the last two weeks. Have fun in München guys!! :)

Party season again

Now the new party season has started. Yesterday it was a party in the Irish Pub for SIB people. I went there with Daniel (since I'm not SIB myself) and we had a good time. Got to meet some of the new exchange students for this semester. Nice. Also met some old friends too of course. Had a couple of beers and left with the last bus. Took it easy, this week (and probably the coming ones too) is filled with parties. No hurry!

Zurück nach Reutlingen

Now I'm finally back in dear ol' Wurmhaus and Reutlingen. After a really long trip that felt like a week I finally arrived at the Reutlingen hbf this afternoon. Since SAS wanted 670€ for a ticket from Copenhagen to Stuttgart, I had to find another route back. I left sweden accompanied by Julian and Sally, two old friends, and went to London. We travelled with Ryanair, which is a good deal, but not very comfy... To make it a little nicer we brought a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed at Sturup airport before we went through the security control. A nice touch to my last hours in Sweden.
Ryanair took us to London Stanstead airport. Julian and Sally are visiting Lotta in London for the weekend, so they left me around 23.40 and took the train into town (after reclaiming the 2 tubes of Kalles Kaviar that I smuggled for them in my checked in bag). So I'm all alone now. Spending the night at an airport is not as much fun as one could think. Not at all. I wasn't fast enough, so all the sofas were taken, and only single seats were left. I got one and quickly realized that it was REALLY hard. It doesn't take much to notice. I had my two bags on a Kofferkuli, and after about an hour I found the most comfortable position to sleep in; my ass on the chair and the rest of me one of my bags at the Kuli. Most of my body (neck, back, hips, arms, shoulders...) still hurt. I could sleep for about 45 mins to an hour at the time, beforeI got woken up by someone being loud or just moving around. At 5 the check-in started, and I got in line, went through security and got some breakfast as fast as possible. At 7 the flight to Baden-baden took off, and I was happy to be in the (compared to my night) soft and comfortable seat. I fell asleep before we got in the air and woke up when we touched german ground 90 minutes later.
From the airport I took a bus and two trains before I finally was in my beloved Reutlingen again. Julia met me at the Haubtbahnhof and helped me with my bags (thanks girl, that made my day!).
Now I've met some new neighbours (and the old ones too), and it's time to go to Penny to do some einkaufen before I watch Melodifestivalsfinalen online. Very important stuff!! Looking forward to a looooooooong nice night of sleep in my lovely bed from 1956!
Ps. Have a look at the new pics I've posted in my pixbox!

Sweden and Denmark

Finally made it back to sweet Skåneland. Spent the weekend in copenhagen with Marie. (Super to see you again!!) Friday night in her appartment drinking LOTS of red wine. Saturday night down town copenhagen, first at Nasa (really cool club, a bit too cool for us so we left after an hour) and then at Jazz house. Didn't throw any stones and made no street fires. (I'm a bit boring.) Sunday we rode our bikes to Dyrehaven. Really nice weather, but a bit cold, and my ass still hurts really bad. But we rode about 20km, so that's normal. Sunday night Bastian made a really nice dinner for me, and I got home late enough to wake my mom up. A perfect weekend!

I'm dreaming of a (not) white weekend!

Look at this, it's snowing like crazy! Notice both the amount of snow on the ground, and also the amount of snow on its way down (which actually doesn't really show in this picture). I hate this stupid mess! All this snow and it's 6 degrees outside. Everything will just melt during the day and then freeze during the night. Like always. I'm not built for snowwy conditions. "Vinterväglag" is for idiots!

Wieder Winter...

So I'm back in Sweden finally, and it's very disappointing. It's still winter here, which I din't really plan on. Or pack for. Dublin had wonderful spring weather, but here it's cold and snowy. Nicht gut. And not very plesant.
Friday I arrived to Gothenburg airport (the tiny one). Took the bus to city and met up with my friend Maja. Really nice to see her and hear all about her semester in Hong Kong (not jealous at all!). We went to her and Ninas place waiting for Nina to get there. She showed up and cooked wonderful dinner. Then we went to a concert at Sticky Fingers. It was Nouvelle Vague, which I had never heard before, I thought at first, but I realized that actually had when they started playig. The band is great, and so was the show. A really nice night with Nina! I've missed you sooooo much, and I'm really looking forward to our trip to Barcelona!
Saturday I spent in Gothenburg with Marie. Some walking around in the snowy weather. Dinner in Borås, and the night in front of the TV and the last quarter final of the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest competition. Nice and relaxed.
Today a visit to Textilmuseet, and some coffee with Fredrik.
Tomorrow I'm heading south, taking the train to Eslöv to spend some time at dad's place. BBL. Ciao!

Dublin

Dublin is a really nice place. Have done lots of shopping, since my sister started working the day after I got here. She has a great job taking bets from various drunks. And she looks so beautiful in her new white blouse and company scarves. Will post photos of that later.
Today I'm going to see the Trinity College and the castle. Hopefully. I've been on my way there for two days now, not really making it there. So many distracting things along the way... The sun is shining, so it's time to go out and pretend I'm not cold! Ciao!

I rörelse

Leaving for Dublin in an hour or so. Won't have to see Reutlingen und Wurmhaus for almost three weeks. Jippiee! Almost worth celebrating!

I rörelse (Karin Boye)
Bryt upp, bryt upp! Den nya dagen gryr.
Oändligt är vårt stora äventyr.

Noten

Noch eine Überraschung! Ich habe alle meine Prüfungen bestanden! Not the best grades for all of them, but I passed! The really bad presentation, the logistics test where I ran out of time, and all of that Scheisse! I did it. Now I can go back to my school in Sweden without having to explain why I did so bad. Jippie! Borran, here I come!
Ps. Candyse, I'm really glad you're back, even if it's just for the weekend!

Überraschung!

Hey, who knew we live just next door to Mika Häkkinen? What a überraschung für uns. I found him a late night down by Penny. Isn't it great with new friends?! :)

Ps. Daniel there might be something especially for you in my pixbox... :)

Frühlingen!

Wir wohnen nicht mehr in Reutlingen, sondern in Frühlingen. Now it's really spring here, which sucks, because I'm soon leaving for the north. I'm sure it's gonna be all snowy and cold there. Yesterday I got a new spring jacket, the parka I've been eyeing for a while now. Took it for a walk this morning, and it's perfect for spring.

I found some tusenskönor outside my building. Aren't they meant for summer? That's not even spring flowers!! But they're pretty to look at, so I don't mind.

I've noticed a very popular topic on my sisters blog, guess the animal. Since we don't really have a rich fauna here, I just let you guys look for the typical german animal in this picture. And look at the wonderful weather we have today!

Ps. Candyse comes back to Reutlingen today!! Jippie! Missed u lots girl!

Valentines day dinner

I just had the most amazing dinner in my whole german life! Since both me and Daniel are single, we decided to have dinner together. Daniel prepared this winderful salmon dish for me, and I didn't want to finish it, cause then there wouldn't be anything left. It was sooooooooooooooo good. Of course Daniel took a picture of it, and it looks almost as good as it tasted. Enjoy!

Alla hjärtans dag!!

Happy Valentines day to you all! Miss you guys back home alot, and I can't wait to see you when I get there!! Puss och kram!

Get active!

Today me and Daniel went to Stuttgart for some shopping and hanging out. Took the expressobus to the Flughafen and then the S-bahn to the city. The cheapest way to get there, but certainly not the fastest. Oh mann that bus is slow. Daniel got to look at some nice cameras and I got myself a new pair of shoes. Just what I needed! And they were on sale, lucky me. After walking around for a couple of hours, eating lunch and icecream we met up with a neighbour and some friends of his for a coffee at Starbucks. We got a ride home with them in their car. Nice.
Back in Reutlingen we went to Bauhaus to get some new Mülleimers, one for Bio and one for gelber Sack. Jemand hat es geklaut this weekend (WHO steals garbage cans? And for Bio?!! Blä!) Now we have new and nice ones.

Now I need some dinner and a nap. Tschüssle!

Riding the S-bahn.

New shoes, exciting!!

Schmotto is gone!

The last one of my close friends is gone (of those actually leaving of course...). So now it's just me and Daniel left. So sad to see people leave not knowing when (or if) I will ever see them again. :( But Finnland is not too far away, so I'm sure I will see you again Machiotto!

Can't really believe you're gone...

Just another weekend...

Another week is vorbei, and the weekend was spent partying as usual. Friday Bianca had her going away dinner, and then we all went to Toms bar. A nice evening, not resulting in any hangovers, which was a nice change. Back in Wurmhaus a really wet party was going on which I luckily didn't attend. One of my neighbours had to go to hospital because he got too drunk. Very scary! Have never seen anyone that drunk before.
Yesterday Otto and Mark celebrated leaving Reutlingen. Otto made some panncakes for dinner, and then the party started. First Litthaus, Reichweinhaus and finally Fishbowl. And Wurmbar for those who were still fit to party at 4 o'clock. I went to bed too early, and missed all the action when the police came. But I think I'm ok without it.
Today, sunday, was spent in bed with a terrible Träkeps, only leaving the house to go eat Sushi with Otto and Krista. I really miss the Sushi buffet at Eest in Borås. I HAVE to go there when I get back! Today I also booked my ticket to Barcelona at the 27th of March. Meeting Nina there, and we're gonna have the best time ever!! Really need a good vacation, even if it's just 4 days, it'll do me good. Hanging out with Nina (miss u sooooooooo much tiny!) will be the best of all of course. Now I just have to find some tickets to go visit Ylva in Dublin in about a week from now, and then for going back to sweden. Reutlingen during the break is not that much fun, so next week I really have to do some stuff so I won't get too bored. Daniel, good you're back from Berlin to keep me company!
Have a look in my albums, there's some new pics from this weekend!! Viel Spass!

Verdammte Putzfrauen! Kitchen drama!
